The NFAS lead arbitrator is Jonathan James. While a solicitor for 20 years and Deputy District Judge since 2010, family disputes were his primary specialism. In addition to experience in disputes concerning finances after divorce and the care of children, he has also dealt with financial provision for children of parents who were not married, property disputes between unmarried partners and inheritance disputes. He has also completed the training provided by the Institute of Family Law Arbitrators (IFLA) and holds the cerficate of advanced family arbitration. He remains a Deputy District Judge but no longer practises as a solicitor and instead has made arbitration and evaluation his key focus.
